Crazy Lace/Coral Fossil Necklace - I just loved making this piece which developed and changed from my initial idea as I beaded. The necklace is made with tubular herringbone stitch in metallic green iris seed beads with larger beads mixed in along its length. The centre is made up of a beautiful fossil coral cabochon encased in peyote stitch. The whole length of the necklace is then wrapped with a length of spiral rope and crazy lace agate chips added to the bottom and which pick out all the colours in the fossil cabochon. I hope to use more fossil coral cabochons in future pieces. |

This necklace is called Serendipity and was created for a challenge by the British Beaders online group. We had to make a beaded item using a number of unrelated bits such as a button, wire, plastic beads, bugles, etc. It was my first attempt at freeform work and I really enjoyed the challenge. I used lots of rich purples, pinks and blues in this piece. |
