My name is Lindsay Mason and I’m a freelance artist, designer and demonstrator, involved in many aspects of the craft world.

I’ve been involved with crafts for as long as I can remember! Even as a little toddler I was usually to be found making something! I can remember making papier mache piggy banks and selling them to my schoolmates! From an early age it occurred to me that maybe I didn’t have to be in a Nine to Five job when I grew up - maybe I could make a living from my own skills.

I trained at Elizabeth Gaskell College in Manchester, where I studied Art & Design and Photography. I have exhibited and sold my paintings, both nationally and overseas, specialising in Wildlife Art. I also had my own gallery, but eventually decided that running the business side of things meant that I was able to spend less time on what I really loved doing!

I then began to sell a range of hand-crafted items, as well as paintings, through other outlets. This led on to me being approached to teach art and craft workshops - another new avenue opened up! Through my working relationship with Personal Impressions I went on to become one of their leading designers, with over 300 stamp designs in the current catalogue across the Personal Impressions, Funstamps and Inca range. I have recently worked on new designs for Christmas 2005 and Spring, Easter and Mother’s Day for 2006 - and more to come! I have also designed sets of stamps for Lakeland Limited.

One of my favourite things is designing for the various craft publications. I’ve written for Popular Crafts, Crafts Beautiful, Artists & Illustrators, Making Cards, Crafts for Children and 12” x 12” magazine. I enjoy the challenge of coming up with new ideas - usually with a ridiculously short deadline!
